What is Sales Coaching?

Coaching is a great way to enhance your quality of life professionally, as well as personally.  A professional sales coach does for your career just what an athletic coach or music teacher does for his/her "clients", only in a more complete and bigger way. A coach challenges you and takes the time to find out what winning means to you. A coach is your partner in living the life you know you can accomplish professionally. A coach is someone to hold you accountable, to make sure you really do live up to your potential.

No matter where you are in life, there is always a desire for more – more success, more money, better personal and professional relationships. It is the nature of people to want to attain more, become more, be more, and we all struggle with how to get what we're looking for.

Most people believe that "hard work and doing it on your own" are the keys to finding the life, success, money or fulfillment that they seek. They believe that a price must be paid to attain what they want, and often that price is poor health, not having enough time to enjoy life, or lessened productivity. The saddest part is that, even though this effort may result in more of something, it's often not the something you had in mind, and you're back where you started, or worse, further from your real intentions.

Athletes and performers know about this trap. They know they need someone else, a trained someone else, to help them set goals, discover real needs, and work effectively toward ultimate goals of excellence. They are willing to hire a coach or teacher. No serious athlete or musician would expect to progress very far without one.

Serious sales people are no different.  They seek out mentors, or coaches, to assist them to perform at their best.

We offer you the ability to hire just such a person.  Once hired, your coach will speak with you every two weeks.  Each conversation will last between 20 and 40 minutes and will be focused on the development of your sales skills and income.  Your coach will be especially effective at helping you to better apply the techniques, strategies, and skills which you have learned while participating in a sales training course (see an example of such a course).  Studies have shown that the most effective way to improve your sales career is to commit to a curriculum designed to improve your sales skills and then to work with a professional coach who will help you apply what you are learning.

Through these periodic conversations your coach will:
  • Help you set better goals and then reach those goals.

  • Ask you to do more than you would have done on their own.

  • Assist you in focusing on ways to more quickly produce results.

  • Provide the tools, support and structure to accomplish more.

  • Assist you in mastering each one of the sales skills necessary for success.

How is Sales Coaching Different From Consulting? A Good Sales Manager? Therapy? Sports Coaching? A Best Friend? Get started now

Consulting? Coaching is a form of consulting. But the coach stays with the client to help implement the new skills, changes and goals to make sure they really happen.

Sales Managers?  In a perfect world a great sales manager may be able to perform some of the functions that a coach does, but we all know that it's not a perfect world.  The reality is that most sales managers are stretched thin with administrative work and a lot of other salespeople.  They usually don't have the time to spend quality one-on-one time with each salesperson on a consistent basis, not to mention the fact that most sales managers have not been trainedto be an effective coach.  Even in a perfect world it would be difficult for a sales manager to maintain an effective coaching relationship with his/her sales people because the authority that they hold over their people would prevent the relationship from being as open as it needs to be.

Therapy?  Coaching is not therapy. We don't work on "issues" or get into the past or deal much with understanding human behavior. We leave that up to the client to know and figure out while we help them move forward and set personal and professional goals that will give them the life they really want.

Sports Coaching?  Sales coaching includes several principles from sports coaching, like teamwork, going for the goal, being your best. But unlike sports coaching, most professional coaching is not competition or win/lose based. We strengthen the client's skills rather than help them beat the other team. It's win/win.

Best Friend?  A best friend is wonderful to have. But is your best friend a professional you will trust to advise you on the most important aspects of your life or business? Have a best friend and a coach.

Coaching works for several reasons:
